Terms of use

Short, because most of what matters is what we promise rather than what we ask. Using the site means accepting these.

What a listing is

A listing says a product exists at a URL and that its builder has posted publicly about building it. It is not an endorsement, a review, a security assessment, or a claim that the product works or that its business is sound. Numbers on a profile — ship counts, streaks, votes — are measurements of public activity, not measures of quality. Judge a product by using it.

What claiming gives you

Proving a listing is yours lets you correct anything on it, set what you are looking for, and post in the feedback forum. It does not change your rank: the score is read from work, and claiming is not work. Claiming also does not transfer ownership of the page — we still publish it, and these terms still apply to it.

What we ask of you

What we sell, and what we never sell

Sponsorship is labelled as sponsorship, wherever it appears. Payment never buys a place on the board, a better rank, a faster review, an editorial feature, community votes, or verification of ownership. If we ever cannot keep that line clearly drawn, we will stop selling the thing rather than blur it.

Ending it

You can remove your listing at any time, without an account and without giving a reason, from the removal page. We may remove a listing that does not meet the published rules — a personal site rather than a product, a dead URL, a duplicate — and when we do, the reason is recorded and the decision can be appealed by writing to us. We keep no one on the site against their wishes.

The usual disclaimers, briefly

The site is provided as it is. We do not guarantee it will be available, correct, or free of mistakes, and we are not liable for what you do with what you find here or for anything that happens on a product’s own website. Links to other sites are not endorsements of them.

Changes and contact

If these terms change materially we will say so on the site rather than quietly edit the page. Questions go to andy@builtinpublic.dev. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
